Highway shoulder stones, sloped/perforated edge stones, retaining blocks and bridge cap coping — match the mould to the finished cross-section, drainage and load.
| Project need | Recommended mould direction | Quote details to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Highway pavement edge | Flat or sloped road shoulder stone mould | Length × width × thickness, flat or sloped/beveled top |
| Edge drainage through the shoulder | 1-hole / half-round-hole / perforated sloped shoulder stone | Hole size & position, slope pitch, run spacing |
| Shoulder trench or edge drain cap | Shoulder cover slab + tall retaining block mould | Cover size, retaining block height & sloped face |
| Bridge pier / abutment coping | Bridge cap or L-shaped cap mould (ABS for depth) | Cap width × height × length, L-shape wrap, reinforcement |
Road shoulder stones (路肩石) are the edge blocks along a highway shoulder — typically 49.5–75cm long, 8–26cm thick, flat or sloped/beveled on top, sometimes with a drain hole or an end notch. They separate the pavement from the shoulder and carry edge drainage. Bridge caps / taimao (台帽) are the thicker coping blocks (30–41cm wide, 20–33.5cm high) that sit on top of bridge piers, abutments or retaining-wall posts as a load-distribution cap; L-shaped caps (L型台帽) wrap a corner. They are heavier structural units, not drainage edge stones.
Flat shoulder stones (平石) have a level top. Sloped (坡型) stones have a pitched top that sheds water off the pavement; beveled (斜面) stones have a chamfered face (e.g. a 14cm bevel on the 50×50×15). The slope/bevel is cast into the mould and is not cut afterwards, so quote the finished cross-section drawing. Perforated versions (1-hole, half-round Ø19 hole, perforated sloped) drain through the stone.
Notched pieces (缺口1 right notch, 缺口2 left notch on the 55×50×10.3 stone) are end units with a side opening that lets water or an adjacent block interlock at a node. Left and right are separate moulds — order them by hand and count, since a right-notch piece cannot be flipped to make a left-notch run when the top is sloped.
No. The 1-hole, half-round-hole (Ø19) and perforated sloped shoulder stones are moulded with the hole as part of the concrete shape. Give the hole size and position; each layout is a separate mould. Do not drill cured stones — it chips the sloped face and weakens the edge.
The retaining block (挡土块, 50×35×36.7 with a 20cm sloped face) is a tall shoulder unit that holds back fill at the pavement edge. The shoulder cover slab (路肩盖板, 50×49×13.8) caps a shoulder trench or edge drain. These work with the flat and sloped shoulder stones to finish the edge and its drainage.
Thin flat shoulder stones (8–10cm) demould well in PP for 150+ pour cycles. Thick bridge caps (up to 33.5cm high) and L-shaped corner caps with deep right-angle sections are better in ABS for stiffness and dimensional stability over heavy pours. We recommend material based on the section depth.
C25–C30 concrete with vibration and curing for standard shoulder stones. Bridge caps and tall retaining blocks that distribute pier or backfill load should use higher-grade reinforced concrete per the bridge design — the mould accommodates rebar cages. Note that load capacity is a property of the concrete, reinforcement and section, not of the mould.
Mixed-SKU orders are welcome with no strict MOQ on catalogue sizes. Custom sections, bevels, hole layouts or L-shaped caps are made to order, typically 15–30 days after drawing approval. Bridge cap moulds are bulky; we plan container loading for 40'HQ. Send drawings, quantities and destination port for an FOB Ningbo/Shanghai quote.
