Hollow hexagonal revetment blocks are the open-cored units laid across embankments, river banks, canal slopes and highway cuttings. The hexagon interlocks on six sides so the mat stays keyed together under water flow, while the open core lets grass root through and turns the slope into vegetated erosion control.

Revetment block moulds are specified as side length × block height, plus wall thickness. Wall thickness is the durability decision and is usually tapered so blocks release cleanly from the mould.

How to specify a revetment block mould

Side length 14.5–18cm: lighter mats for canal linings, garden slopes and low-flow banks.
Side length 20cm: the most widely used revetment size — 25 designs available with heights from 6cm to 30cm.
Side length 22–25cm: heavy revetment for main river banks and high-flow channels.
Wall thickness 3–8.7cm: quoted as a taper such as 6–5cm, meaning 6cm at the wide face and 5cm at the narrow face for clean demoulding.
