Where power engineering moulds are used
Power distribution projects, substations, transformer platforms, utility corridors, industrial parks and municipal cable trenches are the main application scenarios. In practice most of the volume is coping — the concrete cap that sits on top of a cable trench wall or a boundary wall — plus the corner pieces needed wherever those walls turn. Buyers need stable finished dimensions, clean demoulding and repeatable production across project quantities.
Main mould types to compare
Straight coping moulds are the core group, held in lengths of 28.5, 40, 74.5, 75, 80 and 100 cm with widths from 12.5 to 34 cm and heights from 6 to 25 cm. Top profiles vary: plain, strip, single arc, double arc and double-line grooved. Around them sit corner coping moulds (47×25×15, 50×25×15, 64–49×20×6 and 80–80×15×12 cm, including a welded type), transformer platform copings supplied as A/B pairs (90×20×20 and 110×15×10 cm), cobblestone combination moulds, a 42×42×8.3 cm pillar cap, an L-shaped cable trench coping and a 56×28×13 cm ground anchor mould.
Three specification traps on these moulds
These come up in almost every enquiry, and each one has caused wrong orders.
- “64–49” is not 64 by 49 cm. On corner and curved coping the two numbers are the outer and inner arc length of one and the same piece: 64 cm measured along the outside face, 49 cm along the inside. Read as a rectangle, it produces a mould that will not close against the straight runs. State which face your drawing dimension follows.
- A cobblestone mould is two halves, not one part. These are A+B combination moulds — the A half and the B half close together to form the sphere cavities, so they are quoted and counted in sets. We hold 6×10 cm and 10×15 cm versions plus a 10-cavity mould for 8 cm spheres.
- Transformer platform copings ship as left/right pairs. The 90×20×20 and 110×15×10 cm units are marked A (left) and B (right) because the platform corners mirror each other. One side alone leaves the opposite corner uncapped.
Getting the coping width right
Coping width follows the finished thickness of the wall it caps, not a catalogue preference. That is exactly why the same 100 cm length is held here in 15, 20, 25 and 34 cm widths. Measure the wall first, then choose the width that overhangs evenly on both faces, and fix the top profile before quoting — flat, single arc, double arc or double-line grooved changes the mould itself, not just the finish. One 100×20×20 cm coping in this range is dimensioned to sit with China Southern Power Grid cover slabs, so if your project follows a specific grid standard, say so up front.
PP or ABS
Several coping moulds in this range exist in both materials. ABS holds a sharper edge on grooved and tight double-arc profiles and tolerates more handling on site; PP is the lower-cost choice for plain flat-topped coping produced in high repeat volumes. Typical service life is 300+ pour cycles either way. As a rule the mould should match the finished concrete geometry rather than the product name alone, so send drawings, section dimensions and sample photos for feasibility and packing review.
How to request a quote
Send a component schedule rather than asking for a general price list: for each item give the finished size, the top profile, the quantity, and for corners the angle plus which face the arc length refers to. Add destination country and any local grid standard or marking requirement. For OEM work include a drawing or clear photos from several angles.
